The Oklahoma City Thunder and Atlanta Hawks play in an inter-conference matchup on Monday. It's time to continue our NBA odds series and make a Thunder-Hawks prediction and pick.

The Hawks and Thunder will play on Monday. Atlanta will look to extend their winning streak to five games and get back to .500 on the season after winning only four of their first 13 games this season. The Hawks are 7-1 at home, compared to just 1-8 on the road. Trae Young is second in the NBA in assists per game, and his strong play of late has helped fuel a winning streak. The Hawks come in as big favorites over the Thunder for this game.

Why The Thunder Can Cover The Spread

The Thunder are 6-10 this season, but 10-6 against the spread. They are decent defensively, but struggle to score the ball. Their best player, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, is questionable for Monday's game as seems to be in real danger of missing the contest vs. the Hawks. If Gilgeous-Alexander were unable to go, that would be a huge blow as he is Oklahoma City's leading scorer. The Thunder still may be able to cover such a large spread, but a win will be tough to pull off on Monday. Atlanta is 7-1 at home and is 4-0 on their current homestand.

Why The Hawks Can Cover The Spread

Atlanta has begun to play well after struggling to start the season. The Hawks are in position to pick up another win on Monday vs. a Thunder team that competes, but ultimately is very young and lacking talent compared to most NBA teams. The Hawks have a +11 net rating at home this season, which is third best in the NBA. Atlanta is in great position for a win at home on Monday and a cover may be in reach as well. The spread may go to 13 or 14 however if Gilgeous-Alexander is ruled out. Those numbers are so high, it's almost hard not to take the points as often times garbage time can lead to a score that reflects a closer game than what actually occurred.

Bogdan Bogdanovic is questionable for Atlanta on Monday. The Hawks are 7-10 against the spread so far this season, but have covered in all four games of their current four-game win streak.

Final Thunder-Hawks Prediction & Pick

The spread is a bit lofty, but the Hawks have been playing well. Tentatively take the Hawks to cover on Monday, but if the spread reaches 13.5 or 14 it may be a good idea to hold off. Large spreads like that leave way for the backdoor cover, leaving the bet vulnerable even if the Hawks were to be leading the Thunder by 25 after three quarters.

FINAL THUNDER-HAWKS PREDICTION & PICK: Hawks -11.5 (-110)
