It's a Western Conference matchup between the Minnesota Timberwolves and New Orleans Pelicans. It's time to continue our NBA odds series with a Timberwolves-Pelicans prediction and pick based on Timberwolves Pelicans odds.

The Timberwolves are playing great basketball as of late. They are on a three-game winning streak and it looks favorable to continue that streak tonight. Minnesota is 6-8 against Western Conference opponents this season and are already facing the Pelicans for the third time this season. New Orleans won the last matchup but Minnesota won the first game. The Timberwolves' big three are playing well in their last 10 games. D'Angelo Russell is averaging 18.8 points per game with 5.5 assists. Anthony Edwards is averaging 22.1 points and is proving to play like the No. 1 overall pick. Karl-Anthony Towns is averaging 23 points on the season with 9.3 rebounds to go along with it.

New Orleans isn't playing well at all this season. They are just 3-15 and seem to be getting killed by every opponent. Zion Williamson has yet to lace up this season as he is dealing with a foot injury. Because of his absence, the Pelicans are unable to play their best and are struggling to win games.

Here is how the bookmakers set the Timberwolves-Pelicans line for Monday night.

NBA Odds: Timberwolves-Pelicans Odds

Minnesota Timberwolves: -3.5 (-110)

New Orleans Pelicans: +3.5 (-110)

Over: 214 (-110)

Under: 214 (-110)

Why The Timberwolves Could Cover The Spread

The Timberwolves are in a great position to cover this spread tonight. They should be just about full strength tonight with just Josh Okogie ruled out with an injury. Towns, Edwards, and Russell are all playing extremely well and it's nice to finally see them win. It was expected that that trio would eventually get going and we are able to witness it now. With the way they are playing, we could see them rise in the standings and potentially make a run for the playoffs this season.

Tonight's matchup is favorable for Minnesota because of how poor New Orleans is playing right now. Two of their three wins on the season came within the last five games, however, but I still like the Timberwolves to control the game. If the big three are on their game then there really won't be anything the Pelicans can do to stop them. Minnesota seems better than their 7-9 record.

Why The Pelicans Could Cover The Spread

This won't be an easy game for the Pelicans to cover, but they do have a better than against Minnesota compared to many other teams in the NBA. The biggest reason for the Pelicans' poor season is their defense. They are allowing 10 more points per game than they are averaging themselves. The offense isn't much better, however, as they are averaging less than 100 points per game in 18 games. The Timberwolves should have no problem racking up points on Monday night.

Zion Williamson is a major part of their team. Without him, it's going to be difficult for any team to find a rhythm. Other star, Brandon Ingram, is playing as well as he can to keep the team in games. Ingram is averaging 22.5 points and 6.5 rebounds this season. Ingram is going to need to play a monster game in order for the Pelicans to have a chance in this one.

Final Timberwolves-Pelicans Prediction & Pick

I'm taking the Timberwolves to continue their run and win their fourth-straight game. They shouldn't have an issue covering 3.5 with how poorly New Orleans is playing right now. This could be the beginning of a great run for the Timberwolves and maybe we can see them make their way up the standings. New Orleans struggles to reach 100 points in some games so with that being said, I'm taking the under at 214 as I don't expect it to be that high scoring.

Final Timberwolves-Pelicans Pick: Timberwolves -3.5 (-110) & Under: 214 (-110)
