The Mavericks have made a deal for Pelicans sharpshooter JJ Redick in a recent move. Among many reporters to break the news, Stadium was in on the deal, which keeps Lonzo Ball in New Orleans with the NBA trade deadline over.

Redick has had an up and down season with the Pelicans so far, but his veteran experience and consistent shooting is still a draw for teams in need. The Mavs are one such team looking for help in that area during the NBA trade deadline.

Some details on the deal:

The Mavericks have really missed the contributions of Seth Curry this year and allowing Luka Doncic to play with an elite shooter has proven to be beneficial. Last year, the Mavericks were one of the best offenses in NBA history but they've fallen off quite precipitously this year.

JJ Redick looks to help pick up the slack for this Mavericks offense as they look to make a run towards the playoffs.

Redick, 36, has been an incredible shooter throughout his career and has been apart of some very good teams. Most notably, his time with the Clippers and 76ers. What makes Redick special as a shooter is his ability to shoot off of movement. Some prolific three point shooters are stand still, spot-up guys but Redick fits into that rare mold of a movement shooter with extreme versatility. He can run dribble hand-offs with bigs, run flares and pin-downs, and he can make an offense sing when he's really hitting shots like this.

The Pelicans were one of the teams many expected be active this deadline, but most of this noise turned out to be for naught as this was the only move the Pelicans ended up making. Few suspected Lonzo Ball to remain on this team past the NBA trade deadline, but the Pelicans failed to find a suitor for him.

Lonzo Ball, a pending restricted free agent, has hard to pin-down value around the league and it will be interesting to see what offers he receives in the summer. Nonetheless, the Pelicans retain Ball until at least the offseason.
