It appears that Memphis Grizzlies big man Marc Gasol's potential move to the Charlotte Hornets is still very much alive and kicking as negotiations extend into trade deadline day.

Two highly reliable sources have confirmed the news that the Grizzlies and Hornets remained locked in talks to try and bring the veteran center to Charlotte:

Gasol is one of the hottest targets on the market, with the former All-Star possessing the skill set to improve a team's (particularly the Hornets) status to legitimate contenders. The Grizzlies are now looking towards the future, and they are adamant to move on from the Gasol-Mike Conley era, which is why both guys have reportedly been put on the block.

Should the deal come through, the combination of Gasol and Kemba Walker is going to be quite a handful for the league. Walker has been killing it this season, and allowing him to function with an All-Star-caliber big man in the middle should only make for a more formidable Hornets side.

Gasol will not come for cheap, and the Grizzlies will definitely be demanding a considerable price for their (former?) cornerstone big man. The Hornets will likely need to part with one or two young studs as well as some future draft picks in order to entice Memphis into a deal.

The Charlotte front office is obviously scrambling to surround Walker (set to become an unrestricted free agent after this season) with as much talent as they can, in an attempt to persuade the All-Star point guard into signing an extension with the team this summer.
