With the Washington Wizards' season looking like another lost one, there have been reports that the team might be active sellers prior to the upcoming trade deadline. One man that has reportedly been on the radar of several teams is 6-foot-10 power forward Davis Bertans. However, Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated writes that at this point, the Wizards are not showing any interest in trading away the sharp-shooting 27-year-old.

This is a question a lot of league executives are asking these days. Inquiries to Washington have gone nowhere; several executives tell SI.com that the Wizards wouldn’t even discuss a deal. Some teams, though, are holding out hope Washington will make Bertans available before the trade deadline.

Davis Bertans is in the midst of his best season in the NBA, with the fourth-year man averaging across the board career-high numbers of 15.3 points (on 43.8 percent shooting), 4.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.6 blocks in 29.2 minutes per contest. However, his biggest asset is his efficiency from 3-point territory, with the Latvian national currently knocking down 3.7 3-pointers per game on a 42.6-percent clip.

Those are indeed some very impressive numbers from Bertans, which is why a lot of teams have been sending feelers to Washington for a potential deal. However, as the report states above, the Wizards do not appear to be willing to part ways with their man.

Washington currently holds a 15-29 record, and are three and a half games outside the playoffs picture in a wide-open Eastern Conference. Perhaps the front office is still holding on to hope that they will be able to make a postseason run this term, thus their hesitance to trade away one of their best offensive weapons in Bertans.
