NBA head coaches are definitely individuals that don’t get a ton of credit in the league. When teams are performing well, the players are normally praised for winning at a high level. In most cases, the organizational leaders are given credit for building the team. However, coaches rarely get their share of credit. Though, when teams are losing, coaches are usually the first to blame and are fired without hesitation. This backwards occurrence is the norm in today’s NBA, where there are many superstar player but only a few superstar head coaches. Coaches deserve the same credit as players. Coaching is a difficult concept that takes years to master. Therefore, all NBA coaches should be shown some appreciation for their hard work.

HoopsHype posted a video displaying how the NBA’s current coaches looked when they were younger. Since every NBA coach has played some sort of basketball before, most of their earlier portraits were shown on their former teams. It was definitely intriguing to see.

Many NBA coaches derive their coaching style from the experiences from their playing days. It’s truly surreal to imagine today’s coaches as former players who were coached and sometimes yelled at themselves. Nonetheless, it is also interesting to see how the most unlikely faces became some of the best NBA coaches today, such as Gregg Popovich, Steve Kerr, and Brad Stevens. That just goes to show that coaching is a delicate art that not everyone can master.

Though, many of the coaches today probably can attest that they had no intention of becoming a coach past their playing time.
