The NBA continues its commitment to reach out and expand the sport’s influence globally through Basketball Without Borders.

Since 2001, the program has been very successful getting thousands of participants over the years with a handful of them already being given NBA opportunities.

This year, the league will be sending Charlotte Hornets center Spencer Hawes along with other players and coaches to Finland to facilitate the camp, per a press-release from the Hornets.

The National Basketball Association (NBA), the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and the Finnish Basketball Association (FBA) today announced that Hornets Center Spencer Hawes will participate in conducting a camp for the top 41 boys from 22 European countries. The Basketball without Borders (BWB) Europe Camp will mark the first such camp in Finland and will be held Sept. 7-10 at Kisakallio Sports Institute in Lohja. BWB, the NBA and FIBA’s global basketball development and community outreach program, is celebrating its 15th anniversary this summer.

Cole Aldrich, Jerryd Bayless, Andre Miller, and Beno Udrih will join others in the said event.
