It's still hard to fathom that Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving only played together for 16 games—SIXTEEN!—with the Brooklyn Nets. The experiment worked as well as James Corden in that movie about singing cats.

Now, Harden is with the Philadelphia 76ers, forming another talented trio with Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris. On Tuesday, in his introductory press conference, the former MVP expressed confidence why it will work this time with the Sixers and not be a repeat of his short Nets tenure (via ESPN).

“I think we complement each other. Obviously, the whole world knows how great Joel has been playing—not just scoring with the basketball, but rebounding. He had a triple-double last game. His presence alone is unbelievable. I feel like I'm the same way as far as making my teammates better and doing different things that impact the game at the highest level. And then we have a great core of guys that can also help with that.”

Insert Durant here rolling his eyes.

By now, it's no secret that KD and Harden had “creative differences” when it comes to the Nets' offense. While The Beard had high assists numbers, one could argue that he didn't necessarily make his teammates better. His comment about “impacting the game at the highest level” might also be laughable for Durant, since it became apparent that Harden wasn't exerting full effort with the Nets.

The supposed Big Three of the Nets will forever be one of the biggest what-ifs in NBA history.
