The Brooklyn Nets continue to stay mum on the potential return date of superstar point guard Kyrie Irving. Recently, Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson himself provided an update on his prized All-Star, saying that the team has slowly been increasing the level of intensity for Irving during practice.

Despite the relatively optimistic update, the fact of the matter here is that up until this point, the Nets have refused to commit to a specific return date for Irving. While this may get a bit frustrating, this also actually does not come as a complete shocker considering Brooklyn's history of being notoriously secretive when it comes to the injuries of their players.

At this point, Irving has been out for a month and a half, and as it seems, he is far from making his much-awaited comeback. Some reports have even stated that the Nets could hold him out until mid-January as he continues to recover from a rather mysterious shoulder injury.

In truth, Brooklyn have very little motivation to rush Irving back. The rest of the team has been admirably holding down the fort in his absence, and are currently in possession of a 16-14 record, which is well within the playoffs picture in the Eastern Conference. Moreover, 6-foot-5 combo guard Spencer Dinwiddie has been playing the best basketball of his life of late, and is currently averaging a career-best 22.7 points (on 43.2 percent shooting), 3.0 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 0.8 steals, while also knocking down 2.0 3-pointers per game.

Needless to say, we shouldn't expect Kyrie to be back in action anytime soon.
