Kyrie Irving made history last night when he officially averaged 32.6 points and 7.0 assists through his first five games with the Brooklyn Nets. No other player in the history of the NBA had averaged at least 30 points and 5 assists in his first five games with a new team until Irving notched the averages last night, per NBA Stats.

Irving has had a magnificent debut with his hometown squad.

The 6-time All-Star kicked off his Nets career with a masterful 50-point explosion in their season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves, albeit coming in a losing effort. Irving's performance also became the highest scoring output by any player in his first game with his new team.

Unfortunately, Irving's outstanding play hasn't translated into wins for Brooklyn. Currently, the Nets are 2-3 on the season despite Irving's incredible five-game stretch.

Nevertheless, Brooklyn got back on track and earned a much needed 123-116 victory last night against the Houston Rockets. Irving scored 22 points and dished out 10 assists, while adding four rebounds and a block. He also shot 7-of-18 and 5-of-8 from downtown.

Rumblings of Irving's mood swings surfaced this past week. There have reportedly been episodes in which the Nets were confused with Irving's behavior and sudden isolation from the team.

Kyrie Irving since dismissed that as an issue, explaining its normality as a natural human behavior. Likewise, Irving's new teammate Kevin Durant defended his close buddy and said that the former no. 1 overall pick hasn't caused any problems in the locker room.

One thing is certain, though, he surely isn't causing any kind of problems on the court as evidenced by his stellar five-game debut with his hometown Nets.
