If the playoffs started today, the Brooklyn Nets would be in the play-in tournament against the Charlotte Hornets. The winner of the play-in would go on to face the top seed in the Eastern Conference, currently the Miami Heat.

Although the Nets have a long road ahead of them to even get to the first round of the playoffs, the team is talented enough to make a decent run in the postseason.

Brooklyn star Kyrie Irving was asked about the Nets' chances to win the whole thing. While he didn't specifically answer the question, it seems like Irving is cautiously optimistic about their chances.

New York Post reporter Brian Lewis tweeted Irving's vague response Tuesday morning.

“You can't predict the future…Anytime I try to do that, God has a way of making humble me.”

From this quote, it sounds like Irving likes the Nets' chances, but he doesn't want to jinx it. A lot of athletes are superstitious (or, as Michael Scott would say, “a little stitious”). Some swear by bizarre pregame rituals, some tap home plate before taking a pitch, and some believe in jinxes.

There is also a possibility that Irving doesn't see the Nets winning the title this year, but he didn't want to say it so bluntly. Brooklyn will likely be in the postseason tournament, but they have a lot of work to do to get to the NBA Finals.
