The Brooklyn Nets are shorthanded, at least for the time being.

Spencer Dinwiddie went down while driving and clutched his knee early on in the third quarter of their game against the Charlotte Hornets.

The Hornets would get the ball and drive down the court and score before Dinwiddie would walk off the court, forcing a stoppage of play. He was able to walk off the court under his own power and was looked at by the training staff as soon as he arrived at the bench.

He would be brought into the locker room and has since been ruled out for the remainder of the game, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

While the injury in real-time did not seem to be that serious, the fact that he has been ruled out for the remainder of the game should cause Nets fans to take pause. Updates will be provided on Dinswiddie's condition as they become available.

Dinwiddie has become a key role player for the Nets since he joined Brooklyn in 2016. In his four seasons with the Nets, he has averaged 14.3 points per game and 5.3 assists per game.

The Nets look to be one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference with the return of star players Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. This injury, if it is severe, could be a blow to those aspirations. with the season young, however, the Nets have time to find someone either on the team or through trades to help their two stars.
