Brooklyn Nets head coach Steve Nash once again alleviated concerns about the status of his superstar guard James Harden's hamstring injury. The Beard missed his second straight game against the Chicago Bulls on Sunday, which alarmed some Nets fans since Nash earlier said it's just a minor issue.

Shortly after the Nets' loss to the Bulls, 115-107, the former two-time MVP player doubled down on his sentiments, claiming Harden's absence is just a precautionary measure.

ā€œJames, I think itā€™s just caution. If this was a playoff game, Iā€™m pretty sure heā€™d be here with us,ā€ Nash said, per Brian Lewis of The New York Post.Ā

ā€œBut I think we all wanted to just be cautious and give him an opportunity for an extra dayā€™s rest and make sure that he is as healed as possible, if he does go [Monday]. If not, if he hasnā€™t healed, we didnā€™t rush into it. Weā€™re just trying to make a measured decision.ā€

While Nash's words should be re-assuring, Nets fans have every reason to feel skeptical. After all, their other superstar Kevin Durant has been out for an extended period of time due to the same nagging hamstring issue.

Brooklyn has taken extreme caution with the two-time NBA champion, who last played back in February. KD has already missed 22 straight games, and the Nets certainly can't afford to have Harden in street clothes for long.

The Nets will be back home at the Barclays Center in their next game against their state rival New York Knicks. Nash has yet to confirm if Harden will be available, but all signs do point to that. Durant is also expected to return sometime this week, so brighter days are indeed ahead in Brooklyn.
