Wilson Chandler knows what it feels like to play under the microscopic bright lights of New York City. The newly-signed Brooklyn Nets forward, in fact, spent the first three and a half years of his career with the New York Knicks.

In an interview with Tom Noie of the South Bend Tribune, the 11-year veteran admitted that playing in New York has a lot of pressure.

“The media’s crazy; the fans are crazy,” Chandler said. “If you’re not doing well in New York, they’re going to let you know at the game. They’re going to let you know when you’re at the grocery store. They’re going to let you know out in the street.

“There’s a lot of pressure there.”

After nearly a decade, Chandler is going to have to deal with New York fans once again. Luckily for him, he is going to play in a more subdued atmosphere in Brooklyn.

Knicks fans, on the other hand, are a notorious bunch. They are very vocal on how they feel about their players. As Chandler alluded to, the New York die-hards will not let anything slip away if they mess up on the court.

Nevertheless, with Brooklyn transforming itself into legitimate title contenders by signing Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant this offseason, the Nets have the potential to become a media hotbed as well.

The Nets signed Chandler last month to a one-year deal. They expect the 32-year-old to bring in veteran leadership and a tough-minded presence in their frontcourt rotation.
