Even with all of the buzz surrounding players such as former Clemson Tigers standout Trevor Lawrence, who was selected at No. 1 overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars, and former Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Justin Fields, it was former Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver DeVonta Smith who took home the coveted Heisman Trophy last season. Now gearing up to take the next step in his playing career, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner has officially become a member of the Philadelphia Eagles as the franchise selected Smith at No. 10 overall in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Despite the fact that many have continued to count DeVonta Smith out time and time again due to his size and stature, it was only a matter of time before the former Alabama standout came off the board on Thursday evening as there is absolutely no doubt that he is an uber talented pass catcher.

If DeVonta Smith can remain healthy throughout his inaugural NFL campaign in 2021-22, the soon-to-be rookie wide out will surely become a pest for opposing defenses.

The 22-year-old stands at 6'1″ while weighing just 170 pounds. His low weight was a huge and persistent talking point in the days and weeks leading up to the NFL draft, the kind of narrative-based obsession with something other than raw football acumen. Nonetheless, DeVonta Smith put together an insane 2020-21 campaign for the Crimson Tide, putting up video game numbers across the board.

In what would become his final go-round in Tuscaloosa, DeVonta Smith tallied 117 receptions for 1,856 yards and 23 touchdowns. Although he was producing a high level for head coach Nick Saban throughout his collegiate tenure, last season's production earned the up-and-coming pass catcher the highest honor in college football.
