With the 2022 NFL Draft quickly approaching, some key players in the league are searching for a new contract extension. AJ Brown and Deebo Samuel are both talented wide receivers seeking a new deal and it sounds like they're taking similar approaches with their respective teams. The pressure is on the Tennessee Titans and San Francisco 49ers, as the two franchises need to make a decision soon.

According to Adam Schefter, AJ Brown and Deebo Samuel have both elected to “not participate in their teams' on-field offseason programs because they want new contracts.” Schefter includes Terry McLaurin in the update as well, but McLaurin will actually be reporting to the Washington Commanders' offseason program, but not participating. We'll see how it plays out, as the rest of the NFL will monitor these players closely.

Even so, the early offseason workouts are voluntary. Usually, we don't see NFL superstar players participate in this portion of the offseason programs. Regardless, all eyes are on the Titans and 49ers, as both clubs must negotiate a contract extension with their superstar receivers. If not, then trade speculation will reach an all-time high until contracts are signed.

For the Titans, they're not likely to trade AJ Brown anytime soon. The front office and coaching staff have already made it clear they intend to re-sign Brown to a big contract. As for the 49ers, Mike Shanahan is on record saying Deebo Samuel can be had for the right price via trade.

Regardless, there is no real reason for the Titans or 49ers to trade away their star players. Although opposing NFL franchises would love for AJ Brown and Deebo Samuel to become available, it is unlikely to happen. Either way, it's important to keep an eye on both players, as this has been one of the most bizarre offseasons in league history.
