New York City has been an epicenter for the coronavirus, but New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is ready to help get NFL and other sports teams up and rolling without fans in attendance.

Talking during his daily news conference, Cuomo said as long as leagues can be smart and safe about it, the state of New York is willing to work with them to make it happen.

“New York state will help those major sport franchises to do just that,” Cuomo said at his daily press briefing. “Hockey, basketball, baseball, football, whoever can reopen we’re a ready, willing and able partner.”

At this point it's been made pretty clear there won't be fans to start, but it's good to have someone like Cuomo be supportive in getting spots up and running. Cuomo said once it's okay for fans to be back in the stands, he will be the first to push for that to happen:

“I think this is in the best interest of all the people and in the best interest in the state of New York,” Cuomo said. “And then they’ll be up and running and when we can fill a stadium again, we can fill a stadium.”

“But why wait until you can fill a stadium before you start to bring the team back? And if you can televise it in the meantime, great,” Cuomo said.

Who knows when the NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB will get back up and going, but when governors are starting to talk about the possibility, it means we are moving in the right direction.
