After missing seven games earlier this season due to a leg injury, Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Nick Young has surprised many this season with his consistent shooting and solid defense.

Over the past eight games, the 31-year-old USC product has knocked down 36 three-pointers, which turns out to be a franchise record over an eight game stretch. Not only did he set the record, but he did it in efficient-fashion shooing 56% over that eight-game span.

However, even with his hot-shooting, his team has only won twice in their last 17 games falling to just 12-25 on the season.

Offense hasn't been a problem for the Lakers as their bench has consistently produced enough points to support their starters. Their main issue is clearly defense, and if Young sustaining his success from beyond the arc with solid defense, it's still not too late for them to turn around their fortunes and compete for a playoff berth. As it stands, L.A. is only two games out of the eighth spot in the Western Conference currently held by the Sacramento Kings.
