The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will face the Michigan State Spartans this weekend. Oh, not only in real life, but also in virtual reality.

Yes. Yes. That is all very confusing. Let me clear it up for you.

Fox Sports plans on airing the game in virtual reality. You know, a place in the world where you are somewhere, but not really at the place.

According to a press release from Fox Sports, the virtual reality experience will be accessible on the Fox Sports VR app, which is available on Android and iOS devices along with Oculus headsets. In addition to the normal television broadcast of the game, viewers will get statistics overlays, DVR functionality, and the choice of multiple camera angles.

To be honest, that seems legit. At least the idea of it. We will all have to wait to see how it actually performs during the game. Whenever someone attempts something different, there's often a few bugs and glitches the first few times out. It might take a bit before this is perfected.

Furthermore, the audience for such virtual action will need to be there for the Notre Dame-Michigan State game to justify other VR attempts by Fox.

It should be noted that this isn't the first time Fox Sports has done the VR bit. It has attempted this in the past. However, it will be the first time this season the network goes this route. Moreover, it will be one of the few times it will do so for a game with this much intrigue.
