The NBA plans to move forward on a proposal, approved by both the league's Board of Governors and NBPA this week, to resume the 2019-20 season with only 22 teams coming to play out several regular season games before heading into the playoffs. For Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray, that means a championship is in sight.

Per Ohm Youngmisuk in ESPN.com:

“We know we can go win the title,” the Nuggets guard said in a Zoom call with Denver reporters. “Me and Joker have been in Denver this whole time, working out.”

“Why not?” Murray later replied when asked about winning it all. “We have proven to be one the best teams year in and year out since we have been building. We have beaten good teams consistently. We shouldn't have lost to Portland [last year in the conference semifinals]. That was more on us, our inexperience and they are a good team. But we don't think that there is a team that can beat us in a seven-game series when we are playing at our best.”

Jamal Murray and the Nuggets entered the 2019-20 NBA season reeling from a hard-fought seven-game Western Conference semi-finals loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, who were later defeated in sweep fashion by the Western Conference champions Golden State Warriors.

While Denver came back in 2019-20 once again limiting roster turnover and keeping their core players intact as they make another run for the playoffs, the team's front office shook things up by mid-season with a massive trade that moved Malik Beasley and Juancho Hernangomez — two key contributors on the wing.

Going into the NBA re-start at the end of July, the Nuggets possess the third-best record in the Western Conference and are currently situated to match up with Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the postseason.
