Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. is looking more and more comfortable out on the floor.

After missing what was supposed to be his rookie season last year, Porter has made up for lost time and has been balling as of late for the number two ranked Western Conference team.

The 21-year-old Missouri Tigers product came away with his best game as a pro on Thursday night, as he dropped a career-high 25 points in Denver's 124-116 victory at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse. What was more impressive was his efficiency on the field, as he missed only one of his 12 attempts in just 23 minutes off the bench.

Porter's body of work included several tough contested drives and even an impressive step back trey in the third quarter. His shot-clock beating drive at 4:34 mark of the final period gave the Nuggets a six-point lead and enough cushion to run away with their eighth win in the last 10 games.

Per Mike Singer of The Denver Post, the 6-foot-10 stud said the homecoming certainly gave him added motivation to perform better in front of his peers.

“Yeah, I don’t know why (I was so comfortable),” Porter said postgame . “I was born in Indiana. I went home to see some childhood friends yesterday, and it was just cool. I played in this arena when I was in like fourth grade for the championship of one of my games. … A lot of my friends were in the stands.”

Denver, meanwhile, improved their record to 24-10 and looks to be one of the teams who can emerge out of the stacked Western Conference this year. The team has solid nucleus of impressive youngsters in Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray and Garry Harris. If Porter Jr. does indeed live up to his high ceiling, Denver will become even scarier in the coming years.
