The Denver Nuggets had a minor scare over the weekend after All-Star forward Paul Millsap suffered a sprained left wrist against the Los Angeles Lakers.

This caused the organization to conduct x-rays on the injury that came back negative for any breaks or fractures in the area. According to Harrison Wind of BSN Denver, the Nuggets also flew the 32-year-old back to Denver to get it checked out further on Tuesday.

The Nuggets are simply taking precautionary steps to make sure everything is in order and what plan of action that they should operate with moving forward. Millsap is a huge piece of the puzzle as one of the primary scoring options.

The loss of Millsap for an extended period of time would be a major step back for the Nuggets, who are off to an encouraging start at 10-7 through the first 17 games of the season. He is currently averaging 15.3 points on 44.6 percent shooting from the field and 34.5 percent from beyond the arc with 6.2 rebounds, 1.3 blocks, and 1.1 steals per contest.

With Millsap out of the lineup for likely the next few games, veteran forward Kenneth Faried has taken up his starting power forward spot. Faried recorded six points, seven rebounds, a steal, and block in 19 minutes played in Monday's win over the Sacramento Kings.
