The Denver Nuggets have an updated timetable on the return of their star forward Paul Millsap, and it's not good.

Millsap, who suffered a wrist injury that required surgery back in November, won't be back for months, per Gina Mizell of the Denver Post.

Millsap first hurt his wrist in a game against the Lakers. Initially it wasn't seen to be that bad of an injury, as X-rays came back negative. But the news then broke that it would require surgery, putting the Nuggets back to the drawing board without arguably their best player.

The All-Star break doesn't occur until mid-February. That's three months away.

So far, the Nuggets are treading water in the Western Conference. They're 13-11 and have the sixth-best record in the Western Conference.

Without Millsap for the next three months — possibly more — the Nuggets are in danger of having their playoff hopes shattered. The West is volatile this year, with many teams vying for that eighth and final spot in the playoff picture.

But if the Nuggets can continue to stay above water as they have been, on the backs of Nikola Jokic and others, then getting Millsap back in February will just make them all that much better.

It really depends on Denver's other stars and role players, but this news is generally bad for the Nuggets.
