While Denver Nuggets head coach Mike Malone was hoping there won't be further discipline for a skirmish late in Game 6 against the Portland Trail Blazers, his forward Will Barton is not worried about a potential suspension coming his way.

Barton made contact with Seth Curry's eye during a fourth-quarter altercation, which could potentially slam down a suspension upon review from the league office, banning him from participation on Saturday's crucial Game 7.

“I ain't worried about no fines,” said Barton, according to ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk. “I ain't trippin' off that. Hopefully, [there's] no suspension off that. I think if I [did something to get] suspended, I would probably have gotten ejected.”

“It's competitive playoff basketball. Some things are going to happen. If we are all out there just being friendly, it ain't going to look like nobody trying to win.”

Barton should be at least a bit worried, as the optics (no pun intended), aren't good.

Curry called the Nuggets a “sassy” bunch, as well as “frontrunners” for their antics throughout the series, while saying he was poked in the eye by Barton.

As the video above shows, two officials got a clear look at Curry, as they hoped to contain the situation from escalating any further.

It's unlikely Barton could get a break from the league office or get the superstar treatment, as some would in these type of high-stakes games, but the bench cog did say the right things after the game, claiming there is no bad blood between him and Curry.

“It ain't no beef [between us],” Barton said. “I wasn't even looking for that. I was just trying to protect myself. I guess he thought I was trying to stand on top of him and be tough. I was just trying to get out of the way before I got injured. He pushed me. I'm not going to let nobody push me. But that's nothing.”

A league review from this skirmish will probably come out within the next few hours. Curry, Barton, Blazers center Zach Collins, and Nuggets wing Torrey Craig were all assessed offsetting technical fouls by the officials after the play.
