The Ohio State Buckeyes enjoyed yet another strong season under the leadership of head coach Ryan Day, securing an 11-2 record and a Rose Bowl victory in 2021. Day and Ohio State immediately set out to build upon those results in the recruiting process, bringing in a total of 10 commitments to their 2023 NCAA class. The Buckeyes kept their sights set on the future, landing a huge commitment from five-star wide receiver Carnell Tate on Monday, per 247 Sports.

IMG Academy wide receiver Carnell Tate announced his verbal commitment to Ohio State on Monday.

Tate, a 247Sports Composite five-star, chooses the Buckeyes over Tennessee, Notre Dame, LSU, Alabama, Georgia and more.

Tate, who hails from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, chose Ohio State over the likes of powerhouses, such as Alabama, Georgia, Note Dame, LSU and Tennessee.

The 6-2, 185-pound Tate is a physical receiver with a knack for big plays. Why did Tate go with the Buckeyes over other NCAA powerhouses angling for his 2023 commit? Take it from the man himself.

“I’m picking Ohio State because I have a great relationship with the coaches that I’ve had since day one,” Tate said. “They’ve been recruiting me since I was a sophomore and I was talking to them for quite a long time. I also believe in Coach Hartline and what he does. He’s capable of developing me into a great receiver.”

Tate cited former NFL wide receiver and current Ohio State wide receivers coach Brian Hartline as one of the primary reasons for his decision.

The Buckeyes' offense got a whole lot better on Monday.
