The Sacramento Kings haven't made the playoffs since 2006. They have the longest playoff drought in the NBA and fans of the team have no idea when it will end.

Before the 2019-20 season was suspended due to COVID-19, the Kings had a 28-36 record. They were playing their best basketball of the campaign before Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive for the coronavirus and the season was put to a halt.

The team’s young core of De’Aaron Fox, Buddy Hield, Marvin Bagley III and Bogdan Bogdanovic is talented. Sprinkled in are veterans Harrison Barnes, Cory Joseph and Nemanja Bjelica, while guys such as Jabari Parker and Richaun Holmes are trying to kick-start their respective careers in Sacramento.

The Kings have a bright future with the roster general manager Vlade Divac has constructed. However, there is one trade Divac can make this offseason that could turn Sacramento into a surefire playoff team in 2020-21.

Brooklyn Nets center Jarrett Allen is the perfect player for the Kings to target via trade this offseason. The Nets are said to be looking for a third star next to Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. For Brooklyn to make that happen, the franchise will surely have to part ways with Caris LeVert and Allen.

The Kings don't have the star the Nets are looking for. However, Sacramento can still jump in on the trade talks and try and acquire Allen via a three-team trade. Sacramento could hypothetically throw out a starting lineup of Fox, Bogdanovic, Barnes, Bagley and Allen.

With the Nets this season, Allen put up 10.6 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.3 blocks. He also shot 64.6 percent from the field and racked up 26 double-doubles. That’s the production the Kings need from their starting center alongside Fox, Barnes, Bagley and Bogdanovic.

The Nets were starting DeAndre Jordan right before the season was suspended. Allen, 22, can develop properly with the Kings since he'll be starting and wouldn't have to look over his shoulder.

The 6-foot-11 Texas native has career NBA averages of 9.9 points and 7.7 rebounds. Allen hasn't even scratched the surface of his potential. The Kings should get him into their system and let him grow with fellow youngsters Fox and Bagley III.
