The Green Bay Packers were expecting superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers to get his first preseason action in last week against the Baltimore Ravens, but that did not happen. Unfortunately, the Packers had to scratch Rodgers from the lineup due to back tightness.

According to a report from Pro Football Talk, Rodgers is expected to play this week as the Packers take on the Oakland Raiders in Canada.

General Manager Brian Gutekunst said on Monday that the plan remains for Rodgers to play against the Raiders in Winnipeg on Thursday.

Rodgers is facing some pressure to play this preseason due to the new offense in place under head coach Matt LaFleur. While it isn't a necessity for him to play, it would be nice for him to get some action in. Green Bay would like for him to get a feel for in-game action with LaFleur's system.

Green Bay has been starting DeShone Kizer at quarterback in Rodgers' absence. He has looked decent, but still doesn't have the franchise 100 percent comfortable with him as the primary back. Tim Boyle has been the team's third-string quarterback so far this preseason.

It will be fun to watch Rodgers take the keys to the new offense, assuming he is able to play this week. Green Bay has a lot of hype surrounding them after a lot of key offseason additions and LaFleur bringing an updated offense to the table.

Expect to see Rodgers take the field on Thursday night barring another late scratch. Green Bay fans will want to tune in to this one.
