The Green Bay Packers know who their starting quarterback is (hint: it's some guy named Aaron Rodgers). But, they don't quite know who will be their backup. Two are in the running to earn the job, Deshone Kizer and Tim Boyle. First-year head coach Matt LaFleur is still undecided who, between the two, will earn the coveted job of Rodgers' backup, as he said, via ESPN's Rob Demovsky,

“We're going to evaluation from here until that decision has to be made.”

Kizer has been practicing as the backup for the majority of training camp. The former Notre Dame man and Cleveland Browns second-round pick has had himself a decent preseason, but he's been short of a big-time game or impressive stats. Through three games of play, Kizer has gone 17-for-30 for 196 yards, and a touchdown and interception.

Kizer's most impressive performance came in Week 1 against the Houston Texans, as he started the game and went 8-for-13 for 102 yards and a score. His latest in-game action was disappointing. Against the Oakland Raiders on Thursday night, he went 4-for-7 for 24 yards and an interception.

As for Boyle, he's more of an unknown compared to Kizer. After going undrafted out of Eastern Kentucky in 2018, he made the Packers' 53-man roster last year as the third-string quarterback. He did not see any live game action after the preseason. Through three games, Boyle has gone 31-for-51 for 338 yards, five touchdowns, and no interceptions. Against the Raiders, Boyle threw 16-for-25 for 191 yards and two scores to no turnovers.
