The Green Bay Packers made a swift move to replace the spot on the team’s 53-man roster that opened up when cornerback Davon House was sent to the injured reserve. According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN, the Packers have agreed to sign veteran cornerback Bashaud Breeland to take over House’s spot in the team’s secondary.

Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, meanwhile, added that Breeland’s contract with the Packers is a one-year type, which presents the cornerback an opportunity to improve his stock in next year’s free agency period.

Bashaud Breeland, 26, had a three-year deal in place with the Carolina Panthers back in this year’s free agency window, but it was nixed when he needed a skin graft surgery to fix a cut on his foot.

Breeland entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick by the Washington Redskins in 2014 and played with the team until last year.

The soonest Breeland can see action in Packers threads will be this coming Sunday against the Buffalo Bills at home. He joins a Green Bay defense that allows 262.3 passing yards per game, 21st overall in the league.
