Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford has yet another supporter in Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur. He is someone that understands offenses and great quarterback play, so when he was watching film this week, he knew he was watching something special.

LaFleur went on to categorize the Lions' former first overall pick as “elite.”

“They have a lot of playmakers. They’re pushing the ball down the field. You know, Matthew Stafford, I think he is an elite quarterback. He is a natural thrower. He is extremely accurate. I haven’t really gone against him too many times on teams that I’ve been on, but we all watch the same tape, and I’ve always thought he was an elite quarterback.”

Although he doesn't necessarily have the same elite accolades as his other signal-calling peers, the numbers he has put together in his career are something special. He is close to 40,000 passing yards and has 246 passing touchdowns to 131 interceptions. He has been a model of consistency and has even come away with some clutch moments, including 34 game-winning drives and 28 fourth quarter comebacks.

Stafford only has one Pro Bowl to his credit and a 2011 Comeback Player of the Year Award as well. However, he has his fair share of supporters that believe that he should be given more praise than already directed his way.

Matt LaFleur is only one of many that believe that Stafford should be given that kind of praise. The 11-year veteran quarterback is looking to continue his solid play against the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football.
