The New England Patriots have become synonymous with winning ever since they handed the reigns over to head coach Bill Belichick. The historical feats continue to mount up for the legendary coach, as the Patriots have now solidified a post-merger franchise record for 17 consecutive winning seasons.

Most franchises would understandably relish in the fact that they made NFL history. However, Belichick addressed the team's accomplishment in the most Belichick-way possible, according to ESPN's Mike Reiss:

“This is just strictly a matchup between the Patriots and the Bills in 2017, and how these two teams compete against each other is really what it's all about. So I don't think living in the past is going to help us, and I don't think living in the future is going to help us either.”

Belichick has become famous for his stoic responses to the endless heap of praise New England seems to receive with each week. To no surprise, he is more concerned with their showdown versus the Buffalo Bills.

Perhaps there is good reason since the Bills still trail the Pats by three games — with five games left in the 2017 NFL season.

Regardless, most teams have difficulty maintaining two straight winning seasons, let alone 17. Then again, New England is not most teams, and Belichick is certainly no ordinary coach.
