It is not often siblings are able to make it to the NFL. However, the New England Patriots' roster now boasts a pair of identical twins in defensive backs Jason McCourty and Devin McCourty after the former was traded along with a 2018 seventh-round pick from the Cleveland Browns in exchange for New England's 2018 sixth-round pick.

Perhaps even more intriguing is how he got there. According to Ryan Hannable of WEEI.com, the Patriots' star was actually the one that broke the news to his brother after talking with head coach Bill Belichick and linebackers coach Brian Flores:

After Jason McCourty was told he was being released by the Browns, he told Devin and then Devin spoke to Brian Flores and Bill Belichick about getting him to NE. Devin then eventually broke the news to Jason that NE had actually traded for him.

The Brothers McCourty will now be reunited as teammates for the first time since their college days at Rutgers when they started opposite of each other at cornerback. Devin has since made the seamless transition to safety en route to two Super Bowl wins and three second-team All-Pro selections.
Meanwhile, Jason now finds himself on his second team in as many seasons following a solid eight-year stint with the Tennessee Titans. McCourty will have the opportunity to log in plenty of playing time alongside his brother opposite of cornerback Stephon Gilmore. The veteran has registered 472 tackles, eight forced fumbles, 16 interceptions, and 87 pass deflections thus far in his nine-year career.
