New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski could still play football for the Pats if he wanted to. However, he's included in the illustrious NFL 100 All-Time Team as a finalist for the tight end position.

The NFL released the final list of candidates on their Twitter page for the candidates. It's incredible enough that Gronk is included in the list, and the names he's lined up with reminds people just how dominant of a player he's been during his career.

The names he's lined up with are no pushovers, either. Mike Ditka, Charlie Sanders, and Shannon Sharpe are all popular tight ends who have given fans their own share of highlights. Given the way the list has been set so far, it may be difficult for Gronk to stand out and include himself on the list.

However, his advantage over everybody else is the freshness of his career. He's just retired last season after winning his fifth Super Bowl with the Patriots. The number of Super Bowl rings he has on his fingers should be enough to sway some votes his way.

Moreover, the Patriots experienced a sharp decline in talent ever since he called it quits. The Patriots have been so painfully mediocre on offense that some fans are begging for him to return to the football field.

However, he stands by his retirement and insists that he will not pad up once again.

ā€œBefore I was just kind of foggy a little bit,ā€ he said, according to CBS News. ā€œThat's when I knew that, you know, football was, you know, doing all that, all the damage. I just knew I had to get away from the game of football and start working on my mental well-being, for sure.ā€

Gronk played nine seasons for the Patriots, notching 7861 receiving yards and 79 touchdowns. He played his entire career with the Patriots, building a terrific partnership with Tom Brady.
