New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft took out a full-page ad in the Tampa Bay Times to thank former quarterback Tom Brady for his contributions to the organization.

Brady, who signed a two-year deal with the Buccaneers, played 20 seasons with the Patriots, winning six Super Bowls and eight AFC Championships over the course of a historic run.

New England selected Brady in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft, but he got his opportunity to former starter Drew Bledsoe was injured in Week 2 during a loss to the New York Jets.

Brady seized the moment, going 11-3 as the starter and leading the Patriots to their first Super Bowl in franchise history. This began a run of three championships in four years during the initial Patriots dynasty, though Brady was far from finished.

After a pair of losing Super Bowl efforts in 2007 and 2011, Brady helped the Patriots reach the Big Game in four of five seasons between 2014 and 2018, capturing three more rings in the process.

The relationship between Kraft and Brady is well-documented, and–after learning Brady planned to move on from the Patriots–Kraft noted he loved Brady “like a son.”

The next part of Brady's career will commence in Tampa Bay. The Bucs have not made the playoffs since 2007, but they might have already cemented themselves as Super Bowl contenders after signing Brady.

Tampa Bay's defense ranked fifth in defense-adjusted value over average last season, and Brady will have established receiving targets in Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, O.J. Howard and Cameron Brate.

But regardless of what he might accomplish with the Bucs, Brady will always be synonymous with the Patriots franchise.
