The New England Patriots are in unfamiliar territory to begin the 2018 season after dropping two out of their first three games. The Patriots' struggles have them searching for necessary adjustments.

According to Zack Cox of NESN.com, one of the changes quarterback Tom Brady believes the team must make is to get running back James White more involved in the offense.

“He had a great catch and some great runs there at the end for us,” Brady said during his postgame news conference when asked if White should be more involved. “He’s just a great player for us. He’s got to be involved. Guys who can make plays, those are the ones that should be involved, and James is certainly one of them.”

Through the first three weeks of the season, White has been sparsely used in the offense, rushing for 66 yards on 13 attempts along with 14 catches for 125 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He has shown that he can be a highly reliable option out of the backfield the team can depend on with his versatility as a runner and receiver.

The Patriots have made it throughout the last several years using a committee approach to their backfield that has often times limited the workload of their various running backs. This year, the load has been split between White, Rex Burkhead, and rookie Sony Michel. However, White has shown to be the most effective of the three options at this point in the season.

These comments from Brady give a strong indication that White should see more involvement in the offense moving forward. White will likely play a pivotal part in helping New England fix its early-season issues.
