The NFL has fined New England Patriots pass rusher Trey Flowers and offensive tackle Trent Brown $20,054 each for their “acts of aggression” during the divisional playoff matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, per Ben Volin of the Boston Globe.

Flowers had drawn a 15-yard penalty for roughing Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers on a third-quarter sack. The hit was after Rivers had thrown the ball, resulting in the fine.

He's A fourth-year starter for Bill Bellichek and the Patriots. He's proven himself to be a very dangerous weapon off the edge for the defense. This past regular season alone he had 7.5 sacks with 57 tackles and 9 tackles for a loss. In his playoff career, through seven games he's had 4.5 sacks, 17 tackles and six tackles for a loss.

Flowers is a very effective pass rusher and often comes the left end to attack right tackles who are used to blocking for the run. Instead, Flowers attacks their weakness and uses his strength to barrel through larger offensive lineman.

He's a free agent coming into the offseason, and will likely make a lot of money elsewhere and earn a long-term deal. He'll be one of the best pass rushers on the market by far. The Patriots will not likely have the cap room to retain his services.

The Patriots went 11-5 in the regular season and finished first overall in the AFC East Division. They will face off against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs next this upcoming Sunday in the conference championship game.
