New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski reportedly doesn’t have a rosy relationship with head coach Bill Belichick these days. Gronk’s waning commitment to football is supposedly a key factor in that friction in their relationship.

However, Gronkowski’s status as a client of Tom Brady’s trainer and TB12 Method guru Alex Guerrero may also be another part of the problem. According to Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald, Belichick “chastised” Gronk in front of teammates early last season due to his connection with Guerrero.

In the controversial ESPN piece surrounding the internal strife within the Patriots, a big factor in the conflict between Belichick and Brady was reportedly Brady’s relationship with Guerrero, who has seen his influence with the superstar QB grow ahead of the actual team training staff.

While Belichick proclaimed to have a “good” personal relationship with Guerrero in the aftermath of that story, it seems as if he may actually have more antipathy toward the trainer than he was letting on if he castigated Gronk for turning to Guerrero.

Gronkowski has recently been spotted at TB12 this offseason looking noticeably leaner. He is apparently making a more concerted effort to get more flexible with the help of Guerrero. To Guerrero’s credit, Gronk put together a terrific season last year, his first on the TB12 Method. He had 69 receptions for 1,084 yards and eight touchdowns and stayed relatively healthy for basically the entire year.

Those results have likely only strengthened Gronk's belief in Guerrero, which won’t please the already ticked off Belichick. But if Gronkowski continues to play the way he did last season, it might be time for Belichick to reconsider his feelings about Guerrero and TB12.
