Zion Williamson is eligible to get a contract extension with the New Orleans Pelicans this offseason, and Charles Barkley couldn't believe the amount of money the youngster could get.

The Pelicans are concerned about Williamson's health status after missing all of the 2021-22 campaign, which is why there are talks that they won't fully guarantee his contract extension. However, it is expected that he could command between $182 million to $195 million plus incentives over five years.

Upon hearing the potential offer from the Pelicans, Barkley couldn't help but joke that he would be the “skinniest power forward in the history of civilization” if he was offered the same type of money as Zion.

While Charles Barkley's response is hilarious, it is certainly not without merit. After all, Zion Williamson has long been questioned about his weight and how it has made him an injury-prone player.

As the Pelicans' issues about his conditioning persists, he won't be able to easily get the money he has worked hard for.

For what it's worth, though, Williamson has been recently spotted working out and dunking explosively as he gets back to full health following his foot surgery. If he can prove to the Pelicans that he is 100 percent and no longer a risky option, then the team might have a change of heart with regards to his contract.
