The New Orleans Pelicans may have been eliminated in six to the Phoenix Suns. But they certainly made an impression on the defending Western Conference Champs.

There's a good chance Chris Paul had no idea who Pelicans rookie Jose Alvarado was before the series began. That's definitely not the case anymore.

While Alvarado is obviously lightyears away from CP3's stature, he certainly didn't act like it. The two diminutive point guards went toe-to-toe on several possessions.

One in particular put the Pelicans rookie in his place as his future Hall of Famer counterpart got the benefit of the whistle on a rather stinging bit of contact, particularly for Alvarado's chin. He let NBA Twitter be the judge.

Alvarado was candid all series long about not being afraid to go up against Chris Paul.

“It’s CP. He’s one of the best guards out there. It’s all love, no disrespect. But I’m gonna be there. I’m not running away from no smoke. It’s all about that. I’m gonna stand on my own,” said Alvarado after the Pelicans' resounding Game 4 win when Chris Paul scored just four points.

Jose Alvarado may be small and his ceiling may not be as lofty as some other rookies out there. But he's going to play like the biggest man on the court every time.
