Before the New Orleans Pelicans selected Zion Williamson as this year's first overall pick, he was one of the most popular athletes in collegiate basketball. Although he failed to lead Duke to the national championship, he was still the most talked-about NBA prospect.

With that said, it's no surprise that Williamson's game-worn shoes were sold for almost $20,000.

Williamson's rise to superstardom can be compared to LeBron James, who turned millions of heads with his stellar play at St. Vincent-St. Mary high school. The 19-year-old Williamson took the spotlight away from his Duke teammate RJ Barrett, who was once considered the top player in the United States heading to college.

Zion is considered a generational talent, and fans are expecting him to lead the Pelicans to a championship one day. Now, he will be the face of the Pelicans franchise as they move on from Anthony Davis.

The NBA season is less than two months away, and while all fans are patiently waiting for Williamson to make his much-anticipated debut, it is possible that some of his other game-worn merchandises will be auctioned or sold off as well. Fans will certainly be willing to pay good money to get their hands on them.
