ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith says New Orleans Pelicans superstar big man Anthony Davis will ask out of The Big Easy after this season ends.

Anthony Davis has one more year left on his contract. The former No. 1 overall pick has a player option worth $28.8 million for the 2020-21 season. Davis signed with LeBron James' agent, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, before the season started.

“Obviously, Rich Paul would love for the Lakers to go all in after Anthony Davis right now,” Smith said on ESPN First Take. “Anthony Davis wants out of New Orleans. He's not going to say that publicly. From what I'm being told, he is expected to officially ask out of New Orleans come this summer.”

The Pelicans can offer Anthony Davis the supermax contract next summer, one which would pay AD $235 million over five years. If The Brow turns that extension down or requests a trade, New Orleans will be forced to trade Davis because you can't lose him for nothing. You have to get some type of assets in return for a top-five player, which Davis is.

Anthony Davis has been linked to the Lakers ever since he signed with Rich Paul. The Lakers reportedly are waiting for Davis to become available so they can acquire him by offering up their draft picks and young assets such as Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart or Kyle Kuzma. It will likely take three of those players to get Davis.
