The New Orleans Pelicans have struggled to find wins this season. The young team is 11th in the Western Conference with a deep losing record of 23-35. In 58 games, the Pelicans have played without one of their top players in Zion Williamson. The star power forward fractured his right foot and had surgery to repair it ahead of the 2021 season, and his season debut keeps getting pushed back.

Now, Williamson might need another surgery before he can get back on the game day court for the Pelicans. According to Nola, Williamson may need a second surgery on his right foot, but nothing has been decided yet.

This is bad news for the Pelicans. Williamson has been a top player for New Orleans since he was drafted in 2019. He had a breakout rookie year in 2019 and dominated at an All-Star caliber level in 2020.

Nola also reported that Trajan Langdon met with Williamson, who reacted “very positively” to the Pelicans' trade for CJ McCollum. Likewise, McCollum is looking forward to playing with the young talents of the Pelicans, but it's unclear when he will get to play alongside Williamson.

At first, the Pelicans were hopeful that Zion would be healthy for the beginning of the 2021 season. When that didn't happen, his debut was pushed to December, then again to mid-February. With the possibility of a second surgery, it's unclear when and if Williamson suits up this season.
