The New Orleans Pelicans are still searching for a head coach after they parted ways with Stan Van Gundy one season into his contract. With a talented duo of Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson, the Pelicans roster outside of that is pretty bleak. With their coaching search still ongoing, it turns out they have significant interest in one candidate, and the interest is mutual.

Willie Green is rumored to be the next coach in New Orleans, after the NBA Finals are over, that is. Green has done well and is all but set to take the place of Van Gundy. The Pelicans job is still open, as is the job for the Washington Wizards.

So nothing is set in stone, but all signs point to Zion and Ingram being coached by Willie Green when the season rolls around, although an NBA Finals victory could be enough to have Green stay in Phoenix.

The Pelicans' experiment with Van Gundy did not go well, although some of that could be due to the glaring holes in the roster, which could get worse if Lonzo Ball doesn't return as he hits restricted free agency. First things first, get a head coach, and with the NBA Draft right around the corner, it might be urgent to have a coach in place.
