The Philadelphia Phillies appear to have another injury to deal with after outfielder Brandon Marsh suffered what appears to be a lower-body injury during Sunday night's series finale matchup versus the St. Louis Cardinals at home. It was initially reported that Philadelphia evaluated Marsh with a right-hamstring strain before he exited the contest, per Matt Gelb of The Athletic.

“Brandon Marsh is exiting the game with an injury suffered while running the bases,” Gelb posted on X (the social media platform formerly known as X).

The 26-year-old Marsh apparently suffered the injury while trying to run the bases in the eighth inning. Before he exited, Marsh had gone 1-for-3 with a run scored (the first of the game for the Phillies) in the second inning off of a double by catcher Garrett Stubbs.

He entered the Cardinals game batting .264 in the 2024 MLB regular season while also posting a .341 OBP and .428 slugging percentage to go with six home runs and 26 RBIs across 182 plate appearances.

For what it's worth, Marsh was able to walk off the field on his own, a positive sign for the Phillies, who are certainly hoping that his injury wouldn't force them to put him on the injury list.

Pache finished the game going 0-for-1 with a strikeout in a 5-4 loss to St. Louis, which prevented a three-game sweep at the hands of the best team right now in the National League.

Taijuan Walker started for the Phillies against the Cardinals and allowed four earned runs on five hits with three walks issued and five strikeouts in 5.0 innings of work on the mound.

Philadelphia dropped to 41-19 after the loss to St. Louis, but that is still 6.5 games better than the rest of the National League East division. Up next for Philly is a three-game home series against the Milwaukee Brewers that starts Monday night.

Marsh is the latest Phillies player to sustain a hamstring injury. Shortstops Tae Turner and Edmundo Sosa also suffered hamstring issues.
