Derrick Rose was not afraid to take on the blame for the Detroit Piston's razor-thin 109-106 defeat at the hands of the Charlotte Hornets on Friday. According to the former MVP, he is more than willing to take responsibility for what could have been a victory for the Pistons.

Rose committed a crucial turnover in the dying seconds of the contest with the game tied at 106. This gave the possession to the Hornets, who would steal the victory via a Malik Monk buzzer-beating trey.

It was indeed a terrible play from Rose, who kicked the ball out to nobody in particular, resulting in the untimely turnover. However, it is worth noting that the 31-year-old veteran played relatively well for the Pistons on the evening, coming off the bench for 16 points (6-of-7 shooting, 2-of-2 from the line), two 3-pointers, two rebounds, and three assists. His second trey was actually pretty big, as it was a game-tying 3-pointer with a little over two minutes left on the clock. Nonetheless, Rose did turn the ball over six times tonight, which definitely cost the team.

For his part, however, Rose has been pretty outstanding for Detroit this season. The three-time All-Star is currently averaging 18.4 points (on 54.1 percent shooting), 1.8 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.5 blocks through eight games played thus far. He is unquestionably no longer the highly-explosive player he once was in his prime, but surely, he will be playing a crucial role for a Pistons side looking to make some noise in the East this season.
