On paper, Detroit Pistons head coach Dwane Casey likes how his roster looks compared to last season.

The Pistons made the playoffs in 2018-19 for the first time since 2016, but got swept by the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round. Eager to win a playoff series this season, Detroit's front office made some moves this summer which it believes will help the franchise improve.

The Pistons signed former MVP Derrick Rose, veteran small forward Markieff Morris, point guard Tim Frazier and former All-Star Joe Johnson, who won the MVP award in Ice Cube's BIG3 league.

Detroit also traded for small forward Tony Snell from the Milwaukee Bucks. Snell is a solid 3-point shooter who can defend at a high-level as well.

The Pistons core is made up of Blake Griffin, Andre Drummond and Reggie Jackson. Detroit will ultimately go as far as those three guys can take them, but the Pistons do have good depth now which is important come playoff time.

The Pistons averaged 107.0 points per game in 2018-19, which ranked 25th in the league. With Rose in the fold, Detroit should be more explosive on offense this upcoming season. Last season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Rose averaged 18.0 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game.

The health of Griffin will be key for the Pistons this season. The high-flyer underwent a knee procedure after the playoffs ended. Griffin appeared in 75 games last season. The star power forward put up 24.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.4 assists.
