It looks like Detroit Pistons shooting guard Luke Kennard is primed for a breakout 2019-20 season.

After a strong 2019 playoff series against the Milwaukee Bucks where he averaged 15.0 points and shot 60.0 percent from beyond the arc, Kennard has been training relentlessly all summer, working on every aspect of his game.

Kennard, the 12th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, says this offseason is “the most I’ve ever done in regards to sitting down and dissecting my game.”

“It’s about trusting people that you’re working with, really. Also, it’s about finding out who you are and what you can do the first couple of years,” Kennard told James L. Edwards III of The Athletic. “This summer, this offseason, I dissected my game in ways that I never thought I would do. I dissected my game more than I ever have. I’ve been watching tape, game film, practice film, looking at different footwork, working on my shot and my range. It’s been a lot of different things.

“This offseason is the most I’ve ever done in regards to sitting down and dissecting my game and picking out the little things that need to be worked on. I really believe that I got a lot better from it.”

Last season, Luke Kennard struggled with injuries and didn't really get into a rhythm for the Pistons after the All-Star break. He played in 63 games during the regular season and put up 9.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists while shooting 43.8 percent from the field, 39.4 percent from the 3-point line and 83.6 percent from the charity stripe.

Once he got healthy, the Pistons sharpshooter started to play like the guy Detroit envisioned it was getting when they drafted him. Kennard averaged 11.7 points after the All-Star break.

The Pistons are looking for Kennard to take the next step in his development in 2019-20.
