All the signs are pointing towards a potential buyout of Blake Griffin's current contract with the Detroit Pistons. Detroit has been shopping Griffin around, however, they haven't been able to garner much interest from other NBA franchises.

If Griffin's contract is bought out, that means he's free to sign anywhere he wants. He likely will lose money in this ordeal, but on the bright side, he'd be leaving Detroit to potentially join a playoff-caliber team.

Via Shams Charania of The Athletic:

“Sources tell me and The Athletic’s James Edwards III that the Pistons are expected to work toward a contract buyout with forward Blake Griffin, and sharpshooter Wayne Ellington is expected to receive interest from contending teams.”

With the NBA rumor mill buzzing as the trade deadline quickly approaches, the Pistons seem to be one of the more active based on recent reports. With Wayne Ellington and Jerami Grant as possible trade candidates, the Pistons are looking to shake things up on their roster.

With Detroit possibly buying out Griffin's contract, he should be able to land somewhere on a team, possibly playing as a solid role player. Teams with depleted rosters due to injury could be interested in signing the former dunk contest winner.

Playoff-caliber teams like the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, or even the Portland Trailblazers could be destinations Blake Griffin signs with. The Celtics are searching to shake things up, Los Angeles needs help with Anthony Davis out and the Trail Blazers could use Griffin's abilities with Jusuf Nurkic and Zach Collins sidelined.

Pay close attention to the NBA right now, as the rumor mill is on fire. A potential trade could be made at any minute.
