Detroit Pistons star Jerami Grant might be out for the foreseeable future with a thumb injury, but that hasn't affected his trade market. Arguably the organization's best player, Grant is one of the hottest names around front offices in the Association.

In fact, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic, dozens of teams are calling the Pistons every week to discuss a potential deal, with the Los Angeles Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers two of the notable clubs who are interested in the forward.

Jerami Grant is one of the most sought-after players in a potential trade, with the Lakers and Trail Blazers among the teams pursuing the Pistons’ versatile forward, sources said. Grant will miss extended time with torn ligaments in his right thumb, but that is not expected to impact his trade market. Dozens of teams call the Detroit front office about Grant each week, and sources said the team is open to a possible deal.

Grant has one season remaining on his deal after this campaign and is eligible for a four-year extension worth up to $112 million in the offseason. Interested teams understand Grant will command most of his maximum salary in an extension next summer, a scenario similar to when the Nuggets made the trade for Magic forward Aaron Gordon with a significant interest to complete a subsequent extension when the sides were eligible to negotiate.

As mentioned, there are more than just LA and Portland who remain keen on the Pistons swingman. However, he will undoubtedly be looking for a big payday next summer. With Detroit rebuilding, it makes sense for them to trade Grant. He could be a fantastic addition to any contender but specifically, the Blazers.

Damian Lillard evidently needs more pieces around him to help Portland reach new heights and actually remain competitive in the West. Grant's ability to score from all over the floor would give the Blazers another weapon alongside their franchise star.

As for the Lakers, they seem to need help but then again, Frank Vogel's squad already has so many players in their rotation.

Grant burst onto the scene last season with the Pistons, averaging a career-high 22.3 points as their number one option. In 2021/22, he's putting up 20.1 points per night. While he wouldn't be the main man in Portland or Los Angeles, Grant would certainly give both teams reliable scoring.

It's unknown how long he will be out with the thumb injury, but evidently, he is still a hot commodity ahead of February's trade deadline.
