In spite of a multitude of countries banning the game,  PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS (PUBG) still has millions of players worldwide. You can say the same for its mobile game, PUBG MOBILE, published by Tencent. Yet, just like in any popular game, hackers plague PUBG MOBILE. Last week, Tencent took matters into their own hands, banning over 1.6 million hackers from the game.

PUBG MOBILE BANS MILLIONS OF HACKERS FROM THE GAME

According to a report by the PUBG MOBILE Twitter account, Tencent banned 1.6 million players between April 2-8, 2021. 1,620,242 players, to be exact. Why? According to the tweet, these accounts exhibited evidence of auto-aim hacks, x-ray vision, and other hacks. A majority of these bans took place in the Bronze Rank, which probably reflects the quality of players who'd need such hacks to win games.

While the PUBG MOBILE itself can detect the most obvious hacks, many hacks can still bypass their security. This wave of bans may have been a combination of automated bans, player-reported hacks, as well as random sampling by the developers.

According to the same report, the most popular cheats used by hackers are the auto-aim hack and the x-ray vision hack. Consisting collectively 42% of the bans, developers can easily verify the existence of these hacks from accounts. Speed hacks come next in the popularity list among hackers. In a game where there's a lot of running around, speed plays a big role in PUBG MOBILE. Hence, using this hack greatly improves your chances of survival, if not of killing. Meanwhile, Tencent also found 5% of the hackers using damage area modifications, either making opponents easier to hit or themselves more evasive. 28% of the hackers used unidentified cheats.

Eliminating hackers from games may be an arduous and endless task for developers. It's become part of the life of popular multiplayer games. However, PUBG MOBILE‘s players will definitely appreciate this huge ban wave. At least, even for just a short while, they can enjoy playing their favorite game without the annoying hackers.
